About L-x
About L-x, International Lectures on Landscape Architecture
Since 2006, L-x, International Lectures on Landscape Architecture, founded by Lilli Lička and Barbara Mayer, has presented innovative, artistic, and technically independent projects in the field of landscape architecture. The series brings international expertise to Vienna, featuring speakers from across Europe.
L-x is a meeting point for the emerging landscape architecture scene, fostering interdisciplinary exchange and dialogue with established professionals. It encourages a curious, open-minded approach, highlighting perspectives that go beyond conventional boundaries. The series promotes discussion, presents important themes and figures, and showcases current projects and questions that are relevant both locally and internationally. Each year’s program is guided by a loosely connected overarching theme.
The L-x event series serves to promote and disseminate content and information related to landscape architecture. It is carried out by the Institute of Landscape Architecture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, in collaboration with ÖGLA, the Austrian Society for Landscape Architecture.
Originally, L-x focused on bringing academic research into public view. Over time, it has expanded to include landscape architects, artists, planners, and urban designers, who use realized or conceptual works in urban and landscape development to demonstrate their approach to shaping public space, educational environments, private and commercial areas, neighborhoods, and entire cities. The series emphasizes how these projects respond to social, environmental, and artistic questions of the time. L-x is committed to the act of showing—sharing ideas, approaches, and visions.
